The Lunar Eclipse

Schooling definitely happens outside of "school hours" in our house!

Today was the so-called Supermoon Lunar Eclipse, and we were very excited to get to see it for ourselves.

We sat out on the sidewalk and watched the moon change, discussing all of the workings of what makes an eclipse possible, and Bria was fascinated. Not much happens fast, of course, so we went in and out of the house periodically. Great experience, and great memory!

Alternative schooling

Homeschooling, unschooling, alternative schooling...whatever you might choose to call it, we have decided it is the right choices for our daughter, Bria. At this point that would probably wear the label "preschool," as she is three and just exploring the world.

"The Wrong Sort of Bees" is a reference to A.A. Milne, who was a favorite for both of us growing up, and is now a favorite for our children, as well. If you have the wrong sort of bees, how could you help but have the wrong sort of honey? Just like if you have the wrong sort of environment, how could you help but have the wrong sort of education?''

While unschooling is the right choice for us, we readily recognize that it is not the right choice for every family, or even every child. Please keep your comments positive, and we will try to do the same.
